Row by Row Flashback

The Row by Row Experience is a shop hop like no other. Participating shops from all over the U.S., Canada and Europe create a “row” pattern and corresponding kit. The goal is for quilting enthusiasts to complete a quilt using at least 8 different rows from 8 different participating shops. Be the first to bring it into a shop and you win a stash of 25 fat quarters. (That’s 6-1/4 yards of fabric!) Win a bonus prize for using that store’s row in your quilt. It’s a great way to travel to new shops, meet new people and of course have a lot of fun quilting.

The first time I designed a row for RBR, the theme was “Water”. I had the pleasure of working with Jill at Wayside Sewing to produce a row pattern based on my popular quilt pattern “Baby Sand Castle Quilt and Beach Ball”.

Baby Sand Castle Quilt by Sew Fun

We adapted the Sand Castle block to a smaller size and Jill added a colorful beach ball applique and some rope piping to form the water’s edge.

Our row was included in numerous winning quilts including the one at Marie’s Sewing Center, quilted by Nancy Sallese from Stow, MA. Congratulations Nancy, you did a Great Job!
